Submerged arc furnace, also known as heating furnace, is an electro metallurgical machinery that uses the electric solitary heat of the electrode end part and the resistor heat of the furnace return waste or coal ash to convert electromagnetic energy into thermal energy engineering, so that the effective elements such as metal materials can be recovered from iron ore or metal oxide. When producing calcium carbide in submerged arc furnace, coke is still used as oxidant and calcium hydroxide (lime powder) is used as raw material to obtain calcium carbide (mainly composed of calcium carbide) through the smelter in the furnace. When the submerged arc furnace uses vanadium titanomagnetite as raw material and coal as oxidant, it can obtain vanadium containing molten steel and other commodities while obtaining titanium slag through the smelter in the furnace. Therefore, submerged arc furnace is a smelting equipment including ferroalloy, chemical plant, light metal, rare metal and other industries.
